Swimming at QGSSSA

Swimming has been a defining part of QGSSSA since 1909, making it the second-oldest sport in the competition. Across the decades, this elite event has showcased the speed, strategy and skill of the best young swimmers, as schools battle for ultimate aquatic supremacy.

2026 QGSSSA Swimming Pre-Season Meets

The QGSSSA Swimming Pre-season Meets provide a fantastic opportunity for athletes to hone their skills, race against top competitors and prepare for the championships.

These events are a wonderful opportunity for swimmers to test their skills, challenge themselves and spend quality time with friends. The meets cater to those new to competitive swimming who are looking to achieve personal well-being goals, as well as experienced swimmers seeking additional races to record important selection times for the championships.

  • Moreton Bay College Invitational Swim Meet – Friday, 30 January
  • Somerville House Invitational Swim Meet – Friday, 30 January
  • Brisbane Girls Grammar School Invitational Swim Meet – Friday, 6 February
  • QGSSSA Swim Meet – Thursday, 12 February
  • Clayfield College & St Margaret’s AGS Invitational Swim Meet – Friday, 20 February
  • St Peters Lutheran College Invitational Swim Meet – Friday, 27 February

Meet programs will be available from participating schools in Term 1.

More than just a test of speed, the QGSSSA Swimming Championships demand tactical precision. With restrictions on the number of events each athlete can enter, schools must take a strategic team approach to maximise their performance and claim victory.

117 YEARS OF SWIMMING EXCELLENCE

In 2026, QGSSSA proudly celebrates 117 years of Swimming, honouring the champions, record-breakers and trailblazers who have graced the pool.

PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS

Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Brisbane State High School, Clayfield College, Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, Moreton Bay College, Somerville House, St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Hilda’s School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School and St Peters Lutheran College.

Iconic Trophies & Championships

The Senior Brockway Cup – first held in 1904, before QGSSSA’s official formation. Somerville House holds the record with 47 titles.

The Junior Brockway Cup – introduced in 1930, with St Peters Lutheran College leading the tally with 18 victories.

The Prestigious Mollie Gould Cup – awarded to the school with the highest overall points. Originally a top individual award, it became a team-based trophy in 1958 after approval from its namesake, Mollie Gould.

The Sheena Dyason Percentage Cup – a recognition of exceptional performance relative to school size, is awarded to the school that makes the biggest impact through sheer determination. The award is calculated on a percentage point based on total secondary female enrollments. The winner of the Mollie Gould Cup is not eligible for this award.

  • No spectators are permitted on the pool deck or inside the official competition area.
  • Spectators should move with caution during races.
  • Food and beverages available for purchase.
  • QGSSSA Conditions of Entry Policy applies to all spectators.

  • Complimentary Tickets are now available for families to attend.
  • Seating Map – Spectators must sit in designated school areas. General admission seating applies
  • If unable to attend, please release your seat via ‘requesting a refund’.

We are thrilled to welcome back the team from Medal Shots, who will be on pool deck capturing all the unforgettable moments throughout the Championships.

Families can register their daughter and her events with the Medal Shots team to ensure her races are captured. Digital downloads, prints and frames will be available for purchase, with a full gallery released after the event for families to browse.
